My Favorite Breastmilk Storage Bags

If you're an exclusive pumper or just building a freezer stash, you know how important it is to find breastmilk storage bags you actually like. Some leak. Some don’t freeze flat. Some are just annoying to fill (looking at you, awkward zipper seals 🙄).
I go through a lot of bags every day—I'm currently pumping 75–80oz daily—so I've definitely developed some strong opinions on what works and what doesn’t. Here are my top picks right now, plus honest thoughts on how they stack up!
🥇 1. Motif Breastmilk Storage Bags
Okay, real talk—when I first the Motif Breastmilk Storage Bags, I did not like them. I got a bunch from a sweet mama I donate to (so grateful!), but I could not for the life of me figure out how to get the air out. It felt like every single bag was trying to fight me and there were air bubbles or I’d accidentally leak milk out of the top when trying to get the air out, resulting in having to throw the bag away. Then I found brand new ones at Goodwill for cheap, so I got more (you can’t pass up a good deal, right?)😂
BUT—I gave them a few more tries, and now they’re actually turning into my favorite and I’ve become a champ at getting the air out!
What I love:
Super durable – The plastic feels sturdy and high-quality, so I’m not worried about rips or leaks.
Freezes flat (as long as I stick to 4-5oz instead of the 6oz max)
Secure seal – Once I got the hang of it, I haven’t had any issues.
What I don’t love:
They don’t fit as neatly in gallon storage bags like Lansinoh or Parent’s Choice do.
There’s a little bit of a learning curve to get the air out.
Still, if you're looking for a bag that feels heavy-duty and safe, Motif is definitely worth trying out.
🥈 2. Parent’s Choice Breastmilk Storage Bags (Walmart)
I saw people hyping these Parent’s Choice Breastmilk Storage Bags up online and honestly? They’re not wrong.
These are shockingly good for the price and one of the best options you can grab in-store if you need bags quickly. I’ve used a ton of them and haven’t had a single leak yet.
Pros:
Durable and well-made
Freeze totally flat – Makes brick stacking a breeze
Affordable – Great for building a big stash without breaking the bank
Honestly, they’re top tier, even if they’re from Walmart (IYKYK 😅). I always keep a box of these on hand.
🥉 3. Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags
These were my go-to when I pumped for 15 months with my first baby, and I used Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags exclusively back then without ever having a leak. With that being said, I never dipped into my stash. So I guess I can’t really say I never had a leak when I really didn’t thaw any. Naturally, I reached for them again this time, but then recently we pulled a few from my stash to use and noticed one bag that had leaked a little—but my husband did admit to dropping that one on the floor, so it could’ve just been user error 😬 Still, I do wish they felt a little sturdier.
Things I still like:
Freeze super flat – Makes organizing a stash really easy
Easy to find in stores or online
Trusted brand – I used these for over a year and felt good about it
They’re not my #1 anymore, but I still think they’re a solid choice—especially if you’re just getting started.
Final Thoughts
Every pumping journey is different, and what works for one mama might drive another one crazy. But if you're filling multiple bags a day (or even just a few), finding something you trust makes a huge difference.
If I had to recommend just one? Motif has really surprised me. Once you get the hang of sealing them, they’re so reliable. But you truly can’t go wrong with Parent’s Choice either—they’re budget-friendly and super consistent.
Whether you're building a stash for daycare, donation, or your freezer for later—you got this, mama. 💪
